Want More Clients?

I know you probably answered ‘yes’.  Finding more clients seems to be one of the most frequently asked questions I get.   My thoughts on this are that you really need to do two things to score a full practice of clients.  Yes – you have to ‘work it’ sometimes, get out there and hustle and chase down some clients.  But often we forget about the importance of setting ourselves up to ‘attract’ some clients too.

Finding clients can be a little bit like fishing…and there are really two ways to catch a fish:

1. You can grab a spear and chase after those elusive fishies

2.  You can learn the best kind of bait to actually attract fish, then sit back quietly and wait for them to come to you.

Fishing for ClientsWith some practice and skill – both methods work and you can learn to master both methods to get the most fish.

Getting clients can be pretty similar:  Sometimes you want to actively seek them out, but at the same time you want to learn all the secrets to attracting clients to come to you.

So what is the best way to attract clients? The answer is super simple:

As a business owner, you have to make time in your schedule every week to market your own business.  Marketing is a little bit like the ‘bait’ we use to attract prospects to our business.  If you’re not taking time to market your company than it’s a little bit like throwing a fish hook into a lake with no worm on it.  The clients, just like the fish, will completely ignore you.

One of the biggest mistakes a new Virtual Assistant can make is not taking the time to market her own business.  You might be the best VA in the universe, but if your prospects don’t know you’re out there – you will end up a lonely VA with very few clients.

Is it time for you to stop splashing around the shallows with a sharp stick in your hand?  Are you scaring the fish away by chasing too aggressively?  Perhaps it’s time to sit down and come up with a strategic marketing plan to lure clients to your business instead.  Learn to be a great marketer alongside of being a great VA and you will have a ‘boatload’ of clients in no time.

Happy fishing!
