This week there was one announcement in the Social Media World that had me smiling ear to ear: Pinterest has introduced “Secret” Boards.
Secret Boards give you a place where you can pin stuff that you don’t want anybody else to see. (Think: ideas for a surprise party, baby things before anyone else knows your pregnant, etc). This is especially good news for people who run businesses – because you don’t necessarily want to share ‘everything‘ you like with the whole wide world. Now you can decide what ‘goes public’ and what you are pinning ‘for your eyes only’.
Let me say this – I think every Virtual Assistant should be on Pinterest. It has about 10.4 million users these days and a slew of incredible stats that you can check out here. Your clients use Pinterest…so you should too.
Pinterest is a great way to share a little bit of personal stuff about you – so that prospects checking out your page can get start to feel that ‘know, like and trust’ factor. Having a variety of boards highlighting your interests will help to do just that. You can also keep some business boards, with inspiring quotes, social media ideas and lots of tips for VA’s.
As for ‘secret’ boards… this will be where you want to pin stuff that you don’t necessarily want your clients to see. You can be the judge of what goes there.
To create a secret board, scroll down to the bottom of your profile and click ‘Create a Secret board’ or you can click Add+ at the top right-hand toolbar and select create a board, then turn the Secret button to on. At the moment each user is allowed to create up to three boards.
